Motor Vehicle Accident Reports through the GEARS
program managed by Open Portal Solutions.

Step
1 - Request GEARS System ID & Password
|
Before
your Agency can submit accident reports electronically
to the State of Georgia through the GEARS program, you
must request and receive your GEARS system Agency ID
and password. Use
the short form below to request your ID and
password. Your ID and
password will be delivered to you by email.
All fields are
required.

Step
2 - Configure Your NRMS Software with GEARS Login
|
Once
you receive your GEARS Agency ID and password from
Open Portal Solutions, you will want to enter this
information in your NRMS software on the Systems
Administration / State Reporting tab.

- Reporting
Format: Select OPS
GEARS
- Send
Electronically: Select
YES
- Login
ID: Enter your Agency
ID for GEARS system
- Login
Password: Enter your
GEARS password
- Start
Date: Select begin date
for GEARS submissions (note: reports created
before the GEARS start date you select will
not be submitted electronically)
- Send
on Approval: If you select YES for
this option, your accident reports will
automatically be submitted to GEARS
immediately upon report approval (when
approved on the server version of NRMS.
Mobile GEARS submissions are not yet
available.)

Step
3 - Submitting Your Accident Report Electronically
|
Once
you have completed step 1 and step 2 above (initial
setup), you will be able to quickly and easily submit
your accident reports electronically.
Automatic
Electronic Submission on Report Approval:
If you selected the option to send your reports on
approval in step 2 above (line 6), then your accident
reports will be submitted one at a time, real-time,
immediately upon 'approval'. If you choose this
type of submission, please make sure that your reports
are COMPLETE and ACCURATE before approval, including
accident diagram.

Electronic Submission of Reports:
If you have NOT
configured your NRMS system to submit reports
automatically upon approval, or if you want to re-send
a report, then you may submit individually or in batch
at any time from your NRMS system under the Agency
Menu / State Crash Reporting (lower left navigation
buttons in NRMS).
Simply select the
reports that you wish to send that are 'ready to
transmit' and click on the [Send Now] button.
Your reports will be sent and any GEARS
errors/notifications will be retrieved.
